About Rentably
Rentably is a Canadian rental marketplace built around one idea: the renter and the person with the keys should be able to talk to each other, for free, without anything in between.
What Rentably does
Renters search apartments, houses, condos and secondary suites — on a map or by price, bedrooms, pets and the rest — save what they like, and message the landlord or property manager directly. Applications and lease signing happen in the same place, so a renter does not have to reassemble their paperwork for every listing.
Landlords post a listing themselves in about ten minutes, or send us the link to an ad they already have running elsewhere and we build it for them. Enquiries, applications and signed leases all land in one pipeline. Property managers get team accounts, bulk import and a branded company profile.
Everything is on the web and in the iOS and Android apps at the same time, with the same listings, messages and saved searches.
Where we operate
Calgary is where our inventory is today, and Edmonton, Saskatoon and Vancouver are the markets we are actively filling next. You can search any Canadian city on Rentably, but outside Calgary the results are still thin — so every city page shows the number of rentals actually listed there rather than promising coverage we do not have yet. How we run it
- Nobody pays to make contact
- Renters are never asked to pay, subscribe or register to message a landlord, and landlords are never charged to be found. A marketplace that bills either side for the introduction ends up serving whoever paid, not whoever is looking for a home.
- A listing is answerable by a person
- Before a listing goes live its owner confirms an email address or a phone number, and until they do the listing stays held and hidden. Messages go to a real account, not a dead drop.
- We check what can be checked
- In Calgary, basement-suite listings are matched against the City’s public Secondary Suite Registry, and a registered address gets a badge linking to the City’s own record — a fact you can verify yourself rather than a claim you have to take on trust.
- Counts are real counts
- City and category pages show the number of rentals actually listed. Where a page is thin we would rather show a small honest number than pad it, and where a city has nothing yet we say so instead of advertising it.
